DERIVED CHANNEL - Receiver
- GENERAL OVERVIEW - The DERIVED CHANNEL RECEIVER (DCR) is a component
of the DCX Systems DERIVED CHANNEL MULTIPLEX (DCX) telecommunications network.
The DCX Network utilizes state-of-the-art switching technology
providing continuous, comprehensive protection of you alarm systems. While
DCX uses phone lines as its communication path, it does not
rely on dial tone and is completely separate from the telephone usage at all
times -- including times of emergency. - APPLICATION - The DCR can be used stand-alone, or more typically may be used in a UL Listed central station system. The DCR provides the central station an interface to the network acting as a receiving and protocol converting accessory to the DCX network. Signals for both alarm and supervisory events are routed to the DCRvia a dedicated data circuit connected to the centralized Host computer. Two DCR, each connected to their respective data circuits, provide for redundant central station operation monitoring. Because it is connected to the DCX Network, the DCR can monitor STU® events, alert the central monitoring station to a possible cut or disabled subscriber phone line, while providing network operational information. Additionally, the DCR can be used to send commands through the Host to the STU for remote control applications. When appropriately configured, the DCXNetwork offers Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listing for Grade AA Burglary, Police Connect, as well as NFPA 72 Central Station and Remote Station Service and Factory Mutual (FM) approval for fire communications. The DCR provides one of the most affordable methods for reliable and secure alarm signaling, with the added benefit of telephone line monitoring.
